Federal immigration actions are rapidly expanding, with deadly consequences. The killings of poet Renee Nicole Good and nurse Alex Pretti by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minneapolis have brought intense focus on the use of excessive force. An AFT webinar, co-hosted by AFT President Randi Weingarten and AFT Massachusetts President Jessica Tang on Jan. 28, featured experts on immigration and the law. It highlighted AFT resources and showcased how our locals are showing up to minimize fear and trauma.

AML Grants Program Awards Reconnecting McDowell $1 million

Renaissance Village will receive additional funding to complete the building. Gov. Jim Justice announced that $1million from the Abandoned Mine Land grant will be awarded to Reconnecting McDowell. Read the full story here. 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded Reconnecting McDowell a $250,000 capacity-building grant to support the Go Growcery Project. The project will develop a mobile farmers market that will visit 10 to 15 communities, two senior centersm and all 10 McDowell County schools. Read more in the USDA announcement.
